Texas’s nickname pays tribute to the Lone Star flag, which was adopted after Texas became independent from Mexico in 1836. Texas was an independent republic for ten years before accepting annexation to the United States, and the flag reflects the pride and go-it-alone spirit that is still part of the Texas way of life.
I have to admit.
I did not know that. I wonder how many Texans know it. I mean that’s like a White man finding out that his great great great Grandmother was a slave. You, my dears, I’d say may very well have relatives living in Mexico and I don’t mean the White folks who travel every year on senior citizen bus jaunts to Mexico to pick up their cheap prescriptions.
In an article by Kristin Norton in her piece entitled, “10 Texas Stereotypes That Are Completely Accurate,”.
It’s no secret that Texas is an abundantly red state. Sure, there are plenty of progressives and liberals who swing blue, especially when you’re in the big cities (Ahem, Austin). But there’s no getting around the fact that the high majority of Texas people are conservatives to their core and damn proud of it. They prefer their taxes low, their church doors open, and no, they will never budge on that second amendment thing.
Texas I’m so sorry.
Bitter cold, no power, no water, no leadership and tornados.
Authorities said a fire that killed three young children and their grandmother in the Houston area likely was caused by the fireplace they were using to keep warm. In Oregon, authorities confirmed Tuesday that four people died in the Portland area of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The worst weather in almost 100 years.
Texas, got struck hard.
First, I feel you. I know severe cold having grown up in Boston, and I remember when my feet felt like frozen blocks and my kid’s cheeks were red from the hawk damn near blew us across the street as we walked home in a blizzard. So cold I wanted to lay down and go to sleep. The buses had stopped running and there was no alternative but, to walk. But, never anything like folks in Texas are experiencing. We could flush our toilet.
Second, asking people to boil snow for water is pretty low. I’m wondering if any of the Trump “patriots” are using hair dryers to keep their pipes from freezing while their main man Cruz was on his way to Mexico. OK, so he admitted the trip to Cancun in Mexico was ‘a a mistake’ as Texans remain without power amid a historic winter storm.
Third, with that in mind, my message to them is better wake up and rethink who you’re willing to vote for in the next elections. And, take those frozen Trump flags and burn them for some heat.
Two things that make me go hmm right now in this country.
Rich people even those from other countries are “jumping the line”. Seniors, poor “non-colored” folks can’t get the COVID vaccine. Black folks can’t even get clean water. Blocked from U.S. airports just fly your personal jet to to Florida for a shot. My neighbor asked me if I had gotten the vaccine yet. No I said. His Mom got one. She knew somebody.
I want the vaccine because I need a vacation from the arrogance and stupidy Americans who don’t want to wear a mask and don’t want to get a vaccine but want their right to go to by ambulance or special airvac to the ER. They also want to block other people from getting it. That’s plain stupid. People are dying. You don’t want the vaccine that’s cool. You say you want your rights. Well, I want mine so mine’ yo beeswax when it comes to mine.
Another thing that make me go hmm.
Racism is why “Colored” folks can’t get jobs in the Media especially as on-air anchors. Only Barbies & Kens need apply. And while White women can dye their hair White men are having ribs removed and face surgeries to look like a Ken doll. I’ve decided that I’m not going to use the term “non-white” term as if having no color is something I should ascribe to. And, why the hell is it so cold. Global warming?
